Sam fell on Tuesday, his right leg slipping and buckling underneath him, twisting his little face into a contortion of pain. We were equally as concerned about the damage from twisting ligaments and joints. After a mostly sleepless night, Wednesday marked yet another “first” in our family: first trip to the emergency room for X-rays.
As you can see, it was an exhausting experience.
Thankfully, the x-rays were negative. Most likely, it will be a couple of days before his walking again; but Sam will recover. And so, today I’m moved to share an x-ray of my heart, my innermost feelings and faith:
You see, Ginny held Sam and talked him through the procedure when I had to come back to church for a funeral service. Wednesday, March 26th, also happens to be my mother’s birthday. Ginny shines new light on my own mother’s love too.
When I arrived at church, one of the scriptures I read was of the Risen Christ, proclaiming that he is the Alpha and the Omega (Rev 1:17). And I am most thankful that – from the first to the last, through the generations, and no matter what – we have each other to hold, resting in the grace of another’s love.
